SONATAP GEN-1:
SONATAP is designed to be compatible with almost any leave-on facial skincare product—including toner, essence, serum, ampoule, lotion, cream, and gel. The airless cartridges are made of PP (polypropylene) plastic with an external spring design, offering excellent chemical resistance and airtight protection to preserve formula integrity.
However, we do not recommend putting photosensitive formulas such as Tretinoin or pure L-ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) in SONATAP GEN-1, due to its translucent body. These formulas are best stored in opaque containers unless you keep the device in a fully light-blocking case.
Please note: while compatible, SONATAP is not intended to be used with wash-off or non-facial products like face washes, cleansers, makeup, hair and body care products.
While SONATAP’s cartridges are technically safe for storing sunscreen, we generally do not recommend it for the following practical reasons—but ultimately, it’s up to the user:
Facial oils can technically be used in SONATAP, but there are a few important considerations:
This depends on your individual routine, but if you use SONATAP daily for both morning and nighttime skincare, each fill typically lasts 2 to 3 weeks before needing a refill.
Thanks to SONATAP’s non-porous applicator and no-touch dispensing system, nearly 100% of your product is delivered directly to your facial skin—rather than being absorbed by your hands or fingers. As a result, you’ll likely find that you need significantly less amount of product to complete your routine compared to traditional application methods.
No, and neither are the containers used by skincare brands at filling facilities. Since skincare products are intended for topical use, total sterility is neither necessary nor practical. In absence of sterile containers and sterile filling conditions, most commercial skincare products will have preservatives built into the formula to control microbial growth (unless labeled as sterile, aseptic packaging or preservative-free formula).
SONATAP bottles are manufactured in a clean ISO 9001 facility and undergo regular third-party lab testing to verify colony-forming unit (CFU) count and ensure cleanliness that exceeds industry standards. It can be used with typical commercial skincare products, provided you handle the filling steps with clean hands and tools, in a low-contamination environment (such as your home). For extra precaution, you may wipe or rinse the inner bottle surface with 70% isopropyl alcohol and allow the bottles to air dry before filling.
Important: We do not recommend rinsing with tap water or using a dishwasher, as this may introduce new waterborne bacteria into the container.
Cleaning is not necessary if you’re refilling the bottle with the same unexpired product, Simply use the included stainless steel spoon (sanitized with 70% alcohol) to gently push the piston down and refill again. In general, we recommend keeping only your staple products—those you want to use daily and consistently—inside the device as best practices.
If you're switching to a different product and want to avoid any trace of the previous formula (though the airless pump generally does a good job of emptying the previous content), cleaning may be required. This can be done by washing the bottles with mild soap, followed by a rinse or wipe with 70% isopropyl alcohol to sanitize. Allow the bottles to air dry before refilling.
Important: We do not recommend washing with tap water alone or using a dishwasher, as this can introduce waterborne bacteria into the bottle.
To keep your device clean and performing at its best:
For long-term care, we suggest refreshing and replacing the airless bottles every 9 to 12 months, as many full-size skincare products have a similar shelf life after opening. As part of our sustainability commitment, every refill purchase on our website includes a free return label—so you can send back your used bottles for responsible recycling
Absolutely. SONATAP’s total capacity is 72 ml—with six refillable tubes holding 12 ml each—which is well below the TSA limit of 100 ml per container.
In practice, our team has traveled internationally with SONATAP and never encountered any issues. As a precaution, we recommend removing the device from its case and placing it in the bin with your other liquids during security screening. This helps avoid unnecessary bag checks and ensures a smoother experience at airport security.
